Ghost Post
ghost post - the practice of posting a job on a job site that do not correlate to a specific opening in the company for which the job has been posted; the position has been closed but not removed from the job site; or a posting for which no real opening exists. Typically this practice is used to collect resumes in anticipation of an upcoming hiring requirement or for an ongoing and open requirement. Additionally, companies may use this tactic to create the impression that they have more job opportunities or are larger than they actually are.
Generally, this practice is frowned upon by jobseekers and professional recruiters, as applicants who apply to ghost posts do not receive acknowledgement or response regarding their interest in the position.
